When elected to Cork County Council and Passage West Town Council, Dominick’s top ten priority issues will be:
- To bring a new green perspective on planning to Cork County Council, which looks forward to what is coming, and that is community led, not developer led.
- To develop infrastructure to support families and communities, such as community centres, youth cafes, youth clubs, sports facilities and playgrounds.
- To develop alternative modes of transportation to the car, so that our communities are prepared for the inevitable increase in the price of oil.
- To provide safe cycling and walking facilities, particularly so that children can walk or cycle safely to school.
- To develop municipal composting, so that every house can have a brown bin collection for their compostable waste.
- To make sure Cork Harbour achieves the global recognition it should as a centre for tourism, culture and heritage.
- To develop the leisure amenities of Cork Harbour, so that it can be easily accessed and enjoyed by all.
- To make sure that all communities become more self reliant, and are not so dependent on imported fossil fuels for their energy, by promoting local food supplies, renewable energies, better built and insulated homes.
- To safeguard future generations by putting climate change on the agenda, and climate proofing all future development.
- To be an honest, hardworking councillor, who is only accountable to the electorate, not to any corporate backer or vested interest.
